When you operate on ambition, creative ideas, and a do-it-yourself attitude, you’re going to have a few passion projects up your sleeve. That’s what Roll & Render Co. is. What originally started as a desire to tap into the Gen Z market grew into a much larger idea. In 2024 I teamed up with a friend from college and we branded a branding agency from a blank domain with underdog-story-pride. While my friend pivoted to nursing school, Roll & Render is still a living freelance agency that focuses on Gen Z and nonprofit marketing.

I typed this document up while we branded our agency. PODs are important, even to a lowly copywriter.
Branding a branding agency feels hella meta.
Roll & Render was named after a love for board games, rolling dice and taking risks, and of course, digital design. We liked stuff that looked pretty. More importantly, we wanted to be the ones bringing that pretty stuff to life. We wanted our freelance agency to be approachable, but at the same time we were aware that trying to start something this big as young, recent college grads was totally taking a gamble. So we piggybacked off that. We wanted people willing to take bold chances on their brands to come to us, knowing that we were the type of people to push the envelope too.
We did an entire brand photoshoot in my friend's apartment complex, setting up a timer on his digital camera. We may have had zero budget, but those headshots turned out great!
